EquiMania! poised to invade London at the Can-Am Equine ExpoFebruary 2005

Youth who love horses, prepare for EquiMania!


Equine Guelph is proud to announce the inaugural EquiMania! event at the Can-Am Equine Expo, the largest education and trade show event in Ontario, at the new Agriplex, London, Ontario, March 17-20, 2005. This event is aimed at children from the London area.

EquiMania!, scheduled for Saturday, March 19 th from 10am to 2pm is a contest for young horse-lovers to test their knowledge of horse care and safety.

"Through the education programs of Equine Guelph, we promote horse health and safety. EquiMania! is our new education initiative aimed at youth aged 10 to 14. We hope it will encourage our youth to become interested in horses through learning about health, disease prevention and management in a fun and interactive environment." said Gayle Ecker, Senior Manager.

EquiMania! is part of Equine Guelph's new youth education program that also includes a soon to be launched website. Other education programs are already in place for adults who want to learn about horses (www.equinesciencecertificate.com).

Equine Guelph is the centre for horse owners at the University of Guelph, supported and overseen by equine industry groups. The advisory council includes representation from the E.P. Taylor Equine Research Fund, the Horseman’s Benevolent Protection Association, the Ontario Equestrian Federation, the Ontario Harness Horse Association, the Ontario Horse Racing Industry Association, the Ontario Ministry of Agriculture and Food and the University of Guelph. Funding for the EquiMania! event has also been received from Standardbred Canada and private donors.

EquiMania! will be held on Saturday, March 19 th, with registration at the door on a first-come basis, as space is limited.
