Guelph, ON — EquiMania! is off to the second largest fair in the U.S.! EquiMania! has cloned its travelling display and is moving all 5,000 pounds of the new, educational exhibit state side where it will make its debut at the 150-year-old Minnesota State Fair from August 22 – September 2. The EquiMania! passport has been stamped with previously featured appearances in the U.S. including: the 2010 Alltech World Equestrian Games in Kentucky and last year’s International Show Jumping event in Omaha Nebraska!
Produced by Equine Guelph at the University of Guelph, EquiMania! is an interactive youth education program and exhibition designed to teach kids about horse health and safety. “We are delighted to have partnered with Equine Guelph in replicating their award-winning educational program and look forward to sharing it with our Minnesota State fair visitors. The unique display is sure to captivate a multitude of horse-lovers with its engaging activities,” exclaims Michelle Butler, agriculture education manager of the Minnesota Fair. The fair attracts 1.8 million visitors annually.
EquiMania! will be housed in the horse barn on the massive 320 acre fair grounds. Visitors will have the opportunity for hands-on learning about wrapping horse legs, braiding tails and the tools used for grooming. EquiMania! features several interactive components that teach anatomy and biology of horses with scale models and real bones. Equine Guelph is well known for its online educational pathways for horse enthusiasts starting with EquiMania! and ranging up to the Equine Science Certificate and accredited diploma program. Gayle Ecker, director of Equine Guelph, says, “We are thrilled to be partnering with Minnesota State Fair and extending educational opportunities in a way that makes learning fun. That’s EquiMania!”
Home of many historic structures such as the Arts Centre, Progress Centre, Grandstand and Coliseum (formerly known as the Hippodrome), the Minnesota State Fair will also be home base for EquiMania’s second traveling display for the next five years. This will allow EquiMania! to share their popular exhibit with more venues in the United States, teaching horse enthusiasts about safety and horse health in a fun interactive way that keeps them coming back for more!
